K. M. Shaji is a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly representing the Vengara Assembly Constituency. He was born on 22 September 1972 at Kaniyambetta to K. M. Beeran Kutty and P. C. Aishakkutty. He completed his high school education at Government Higher Secondary School, Kaniyambetta and his Pre-Degree at Islahiya College, Chennamangallur. He enrolled in the B.B.A. programme at Al-Ameen College, Bengaluru, although he did not complete the course. Active in politics since his school days, he served as State President and General Secretary of the Muslim Youth League. In 1995, he was elected Vice President of Kaniyambetta Grama Panchayat, and in 1997, he became its President.

He first contested the Kerala Legislative Assembly election in 2006 from the Eravipuram Assembly Constituency. He was elected to the Assembly from the Azhikode Assembly Constituency in 2011 and represented the constituency until 2021. During his tenure, he served on several Subject Committees and Ad Hoc Committees of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. In 2026, he was elected from the Vengara Assembly Constituency.

School Years – Began active political involvement as a school leader. 1995 – Elected Vice President of Kaniyambetta Grama Panchayat. 1997 – Elected President of Kaniyambetta Grama Panchayat. 2006 – Contested the Kerala Legislative Assembly election for the first time from Eravipuram constituency, Kollam. 2011 – Elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Azhikode constituency, Kannur. 2011–2021 – Served as MLA representing Azhikode constituency. During Legislative Tenure – Served as a member of various Subject Committees and Ad hoc Committees of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. 2026 – Elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Vengara constituency. Muslim Youth League – Served as State President and General Secretary of the Muslim Youth League.
